Released Her Chains

by Amanda Ghosties   May 6, 2010

Her heart caught in her throat
Tears forming in her eyes
Her pulse is growing faster
Awaiting his goodbye

Studying his face for clues
Hints that give away
Lies wrapped up so beautifully
Love's become cliche

Instead she sees so much more
Than a boy who plays with hearts
A man that smiles just for her
With no intention to depart

She sees his love now radiate
From his smile, so surreal
No need to break her once again
It is her time to heal

He tells her of his love for her
In the most subtle ways
&& Truly, for once, in her life
She feels everything will be okay

A girl who swore she'd never say
That she'd ever fall again
Now, feels the flutter in her chest
He's released her from her chains
