Double Exposures

by Indian Comma Bean   May 7, 2010

A minute's breath, stepping
on stair steps laden with
hairline fractures, bears veins
alive with memories,
memories kept in warm embrace
of aging nocturne's sky.

Forgetting how to grow,
where these tears are to flow,
when these eyes have no stars
just these fading moments of ours -
these ephemeral laughs of ours...

Lost in a dream and a love born haze,
walking in the ocean, swimming with the moon,
fog lies its weary head upon the morning sky,
yet here I still cry,
here I still weep for beauty left on doorsteps,
for innocence left in splintered reflections.

Forgetting what I know
of this life, this show,
when my heart is the act
another step that has cracked,
while these veins empty memories,
just these dear memories -
fluid polaroids of sun trails and lunar tales...
I sleep eternally in benevolence
upon each minute's breath.

Beautifully penned. You could have removed some of the unnecessary filler words (and,I) but the piece flowed so well I almost didn't notice..

Vivid imagery and nice word choice in many places. Great job!
