Dahlia

by Lady Nik   May 9, 2010

All she ever wanted was
to hold his hand, tell him
her deepest secrets and know
he'd understand. Love him
endlessly and hope he'd stay
close to home, be the apple of
his eye and never feel alone.

He never looked her way or
dropped her a line. To him she
was a nobody, just a waste of time.
To her he was the world
the constant tapping of her heart
he was the moon, the stars
the light when it was dark.

She knew one day he'd say hello
and finally see that she existed.
She saw him with other girls
but the thought of crying she
resisted. Dahlia was a dreamer
until the day he called her
"freak" She wouldn't be the
laughing stalk, belittled
or demeaned.

She followed him home one day
and watched him leave his car.
She'd get him back for being
mean and breaking her heart.
She may have been a
small girl, but today she'd
have to kill a man. She didn't
want to do this but he didn't
understand.

All she ever wanted was for him to hold her hand.

A very powerful message here Nik. The emotion was immense. You could feel the girl wanting so bad to be with this person. In the end though he just insulted and ignored her. A very sad piece but nicely written. Good job and keep writing.
