Peppermint Snowflakes

by Kaia   May 27, 2010

Whenever I taste mint
It is midwinter; snow falling
Gently from the cloud covered,
Satin grey, sky.
Every crystal telling a different
Story.

I watch, from the warmth
Of her arms.
A gentle kiss to tell me
She loves me.

The snow nestles in my
Chocolate hair, lingering
Is the subtle taste of
Mint; It's saying
I love you

But... this is now my story.
My story is the warm
Wet of the tears running
Down my red blotchy cheeks.
The snow flurrying, as though it
Were angry, maybe even sad...

Missing her warmth,
Missing the taste of
Mint... the taste that
Reminds me so much of
You.

This is a beautiful piece and I loved how you talked about the taste of mint throughout this piece. I felt that was very clever and shows how special this person was to you. I can feel the warmth of your heart and your feelings in the entire poem and I think you did a wonderful job. Nik
