Just Another Masquerade

by Danielle   May 28, 2010

He sits alone awaiting his partner
He searches and searches but can't find her

Alas! She is found sitting alone
Looking for a partner of her own

As he stares into her eyes
He can see the sparkly stars of the sky

They begin to dance around and around
And a sudden unknown happiness is found

When he touches her skin
He lights a fire from within

Their masks hide their true identities
And their lives are still mysteries

As the night begins to end
They feel a connection more than friends

But alas! They'll never see each other again
Because the dance has come to an end

Sadly this has always been the way...
Because it's always just another masquerade...

Hmmm. I liked it. I can imagine a girl sitting by herself all lonely when this cute guy comes up and asks her to dance, and they both have an amazing time. *sad smile* I've been in that circumstance. It's very sad when it's just a one-time-thing and then you leave. Even so, masqurades are incrediably fun XD

Actually, theres another way I see this poem thats how I look at the whole idea of a masqurade..and thats more that you never know how a person really is inside because most put on masks all the time, not just at a dance..reminds me everyone hides a part of themselves from others.

Simple :] my kind of poem. I loved the imagery in piece. It helps the reads see what you saw when you wrote this. Like the person aove sad it's just like a fairy tale with a twist and I liked that about this poem. I love how feel it flows too, just like a real story. I wouldn't change a thing about this. Nice work dear. Nik
