Hidden secret

by Maria   Jun 3, 2010

I know that when my heart beats,
It beats even faster, when your near by.
I know for a fact that when my eyes,
are set upon only you,
A smile forms upon my once plain face.

They tell me Im foolish for liking a boy like you,
But my mind cant control what the heart wants.
Yet they stare at me in such disappointment,
I honestly dont think they know how hard it is

Im the one who must keep quiet from my dirty secret,
The friendship we have formed,
Its much more meaningful, then,
Then the pathetic crush that lies in my heart.

Its been an ongoing hidden secret from you,
One that only affects the emotions in me.
Though I show no effort hiding my continuous flirtations,
I fear I grow no boundary of heartache.

My mind races rapidly knowing you once knew my secret,
My heart flutters in the darkness of my chest.
Time has elapsed and to you,
You no longer sense how deeply hidden the secret has gone.

You speak a love that could be forever,
And a promise that no secret will break it.
But knowing the fact that you could know,
And still not care,
Hurts me more, then you not knowing at all.

So I sit here, waiting ever so patiently,
For you to open your eyes and see me.
Forever I fear I might wait,
always Im sure I will utterly want you.

This is possibly the best poem I've read all week. It has a rythm, it has a great language which shows me that there's a lot of talent in you. It also had the best line of poetry I've read in a very, very long time.

"I fear I grow no boundary of heartache."

This is top, top-class. It's soare yet powerful, it's a line where you expose so much by saying so little. I really, really enjoyed that.
