Good Night No More

by Lady Nik   Jun 11, 2010

There's something serene about
being surrounded by muggy
marshes. The chipper from a
cricket on a tree limb. The lingering
shadows as people pass by in there
snug automobiles.

But my heart belongs to the stars
hanging loosely in the dark blue
Skies about my head. I wish...
I wish I could hang there
and forget what will await me
in the foggy mornings after
this thunderstorm parading around
in my mind becomes a rushing monsoon.

There's nothing left to say when
the world stands still. Rain drops freeze
in mid air and song birds hush their
melodies just so I can remember
what it was like to say good night
to you.

*A poem for my new friend Byron :]

S very nice poem, especially liked the way you described all the noises that you hear while you sleep, the cars, crickets and so on. You say the your heart belongs to the stars, but later on you say that there's someone new who means the world to you, which is conflicting a bit, but the meaning is still bold enough. Liked the writing, the rhyming was good as well. Nothing I have to comment about 5/5
