The After

by Minkus   Jun 12, 2010

One last gasp before the x's fall on my head
before the z's float up and get caught in the fan blades
before the world becomes plunged into midnight blue
An accident surrounds my world
and transforms my solace into a thunderstorm
with lightning webbing across the sky in my head
and racing out of my fingertips, Zeus gone 21st century
Don't ask me how it happens, just ask me if I like it
and I'll say

I love the power, the rush, the flame
that burns, an orange-rimmed black inferno inside
The fiery sword that pierces your hide of monotony
to incite in you that special spark
that beautiful flash
that burning glow of feeling, warming your cheeks and tingling in your mind
Please let me set you on fire again and again
I love the heat, the heat, the heat

The trance, envelopment in the smoking vapor of the verse
breathing it in and exhaling, a Cuban chorus through the eyes
A holistic enlightenment like the primal peace that comes
lying next to your lover afterward
Her lips, his eyes, her arm, his back
This is what I wish to offer
This is what I sacrifice my words for
what I sacrifice myself to:
The End
and The After
