Pretentious

by tainted melody   Jun 12, 2010

No one is enjoying this masquerade,
but it keeps on going like this unending universe.

No one wants to be a part of this fake parade,
but no one tries to break this curse.

These strangers laugh and play along,
trying to conceal this explosive pain.

But all this acting feels so wrong,
why are they trying, what do they have to gain?

I want to, but i can't break the mold,
the tears just are bubbling up inside.

This pretentiousness has such a hold,
but my bad memories i must hide.

But in you I want to confide.

They tell me that this life is normal,
that I must continue, for the sake of peace.

But I hate this life, so formal,
but with every smile my happiness will decrease.

My stories so bare and raw,
my life feeling like a crashing plane.

But inside my eyes , you looked and saw,
my emotional torment and pain.

I can't speak the words i feel inside,
the tears I cried have now faded.

I'm just skating by, along for the ride,
these people feel so dull and jaded.

But in you I want to confide.
