Change of Heart

by Melissa   Jun 18, 2010

I'm frightened by the things
I cannot see~
an instinct,
some racket,
a sudden snap of the air
that rises those hairs
on your spine
with such chilling potency

I shiver,
catch my heart
and scurry about, like a silly child
with no concern
for her shadow, anymore

But then I pause...

Hush, listen!

There's a leaf whispering secrets
to her tree,
an owl is questioning his existence,
and what's that, someone's dream
being played out, like a movie
across the moon

a star f
.........a
.........l
.........l
.........s

It is here that I am closest to God,
His hands
a labyrinth of love through my hair~

wind speaks,
fishes retreat,
and the darkest night of summer
is no longer alarming
in all its chatter;
a bit rowdy, perhaps,
but that's just nature

fear it not

This is going on my favorites straight away, I really don't know what to say but beautiful work, you have a talent for reaching out to the reader and placing your senses and feelings into the hearts of others. I loved your unique setup of the poem itself, and how much original imagery was elegantly portrayed. I enjoyed myself greatly, thanks for sharing dear!

Wow! That's the best poem I've read in a while.

Very well written, so beautiful. I loved the ending, and the images you created within your words! 5/5
