Undivided

by Poet on the Piano   Jun 27, 2010

I am the sun,
not universally loved or craved
by just anyone.
A considerate bird
flew into my rays
on a heavy afternoon,
one wing wounded
the other carrying
a gentle gift.
I had no idea
that delivery could
breathe brilliance,
until I listened.
I only shine
for those two
colorful birds,
because they
taught me
how to love again.
