This Prison

by Some Random Human   Jul 8, 2010

Feels like a long time since I had you in my arms,
been such a hard time since we've been apart,
I know that I promised you no harm,
but I made you cry, so you said goodbye,
it's not right, the way I treated you,
don't know why I do these things I do,
now my life is a mess yes it's true,
but I want to try, so don't say goodbye,

This prison I've built up in my heart,
I locked it away behind bars,
this prison I've built up in my heart,
can't hide these scars,
but I can tear them apart,

Now I'm guarded, afraid to let anyone in,
because I don't want to go through that again,
I'm not over the pain from back then,
so I'm locking it up, never again to love,
I hate this mess that I have made,
I've lost at every game I have played,
I know that this was not a charade,
I didn't give you enough, enough of my love,

This prison I've built up in my heart,
I locked it away behind bars,
this prison I've built up in my heart,
can't hide these scars,
but I can tear them apart,

I've locked my heart away,
no key to this ball and chain,
I'm paying for all my crimes,
I'm staying here for the rest of my time,

This prison I've built up in my heart,
I locked it away behind bars,
this prison I've built up in my heart,
can't hide these scars,
but I can tear them apart,

This prison I've built up in my heart,
I locked it away behind bars,
this prison I've built up in my heart,
can't hide these scars,
but I can tear them apart,

I'm letting you go,
I'm moving on,
I'm leaving these scars,
on your lawn,
I'm going to try,
to get over you,
and all the pain,
that you put me through...
