Alcohol

by ronnie   Jul 17, 2010

Vodka, Tequila, rum,
Whiskey is her favorite

She will drink all night
even she knows this is a life long fight

alcoholism is a form of self medication
that most people will never understand

She is a “drunk”
life has become meaningless to her

Alcohol is a poison
left her life in ruins

Bottles are her best friend
she will hide all her pain in them

Please read-
Studies say that girls who drink a lot have more chances of being sexually abused. Girls and boys who drink a lot are both at risk of a number of terrible things. Alcoholism is so common my whole family has had problems with it. So please be careful when you drink.

I loved this, the title jumped out at me, and as someone who has battled substance problems, to replace with alcohol ones. It was a must read.

This poem makes me think, and i loved the fact your not glorifying drinking, but showing the dark captivating illusion it can carry.

I have a very short (8 little lines) poem about drinking, :'A Sad Little Theory, To Go With My Sad Little Story', and another poem titled :'The Devil I Hate To Be'. Though not a great as your work, i still like to think that these too carry warnings.

This is a great piece of work and i loved the paragraph you added about the effects, i hope many people read that and take note.

Well done, on a great subject matter.
