"Look me in the eyes," you say As I'm asked to tell the truth. "You're going to think I'm lying, So tell me what's the use?" You grab my chin, jerking it up And direct it at your face. But still my eyes look down, I refuse to meet your gaze. "Look at me!" you scream at me, As if that's going to help. I turn my head away and say "Take a look at yourself." You smack my face, I cross my arms, But still I do not cry. You only fuel my desire To not look you in the eye. You're getting angrier with every second. I try to stifle a laugh Because it's funny you're losing control. I'm finally taking some back. No one needs to see in my eyes, The windows to my soul. All they need is to read my lips And learn all they need to know.
