Cementing The Past.

by Hologram   Jul 26, 2010

Walking my millionth street,
Taking one more left turn.
Nothing's going right,
So it's time to burn.

Step into the lost passion,
Where all that use to be, has fallen
Onto the strings of survival I am grabbing.
Watch as the pain in your heart grows swollen.

All this because of, what?
I'm judged because of what once was.
It decides what my will be, will be.
I'm not sure if I can stand this fuss.

Walking the cemented sidewalk,
Staring down at each tile,
Reading each mistake placed there,
Looking back at each coded smile.

It was then, affecting the now.
Even as I step on it, trying to forget.
I'm finding that people will not let me,
Let go of all that I regret.

Look into the abandoned building,
See all the scenes that use to be there.
When life use to fill the place,
Feeling again, those who loved and cared.

But the past crippled the future.
No moving forward,
Stuck in the cement of life,
Walking the sidewalk, not sure what toward.

    You shouldn't need anyone's permission or acceptance to let go of regret;
    Be your own guide.
