Life Of False Pretences

by FindingHarmonyInYurCries   Jul 31, 2010

You look at the black eye,
Staring back in the mirror.
You wonder why it happened,
You want to see things clearer.

You strip away the make-up,
That hid the lies of today.
You pull away the glasses,
You make the world look okay.

Trying to pull away the curtain,
Before it completely hides the lies.
You need someone to know,
The pain behind your eyes.

You simply need anyone to know,
Why it is you cry at night.
Why you fake your smile,
Why nothing seems alright.

You want to feel their hand,
On your shoulder as you fall.
And their voice saying I'm here,
I'm here for it all.

But the hardest part about it,
Are the words being voiced.
So you prepare yourself properly,
Ensure your mouth is moist.

But then you choke up,
The words just don't come out.
Your stuck yet again inside yourself,
Faced with your own doubt.

Then everything fades to grey,
You need to feel a rush.
You reach for the razor blade,
You want to feel it's touch.

You bleed away the pain,
You bleed away unvoiced words.
You cut yourself once,
Then go for seconds and thirds.

Everything feels okay now,
You don't need to let anyone in.
You're safe inside yourself,
Baby, you're safe yet again.

We all have some sort of pain that we hide. Some hide it well & some don't. I guess we both go pretty well at hiding it.

    Nice work hun,
Please remember that I'll always be here
for you - day or night.
