A Lonely Universe

by Nobody   Aug 1, 2010

Words laced heavily with venom
we spit through our clenched teeth
carving out a jagged ridge between us

screams drown once said affections
flooding, a open ocean drifting us
until we are worlds, universes apart

I tried to send smoke signals
attempting to urge back into safe waters
receiving no reply only silence

You offered a white flag
a chance to surrender all defensives
I fired away cannons, sinking your ship

now aged, no longer restless
we build castles of great beauty
so vast in size, with no one to share

yet we still built these thorny walls
and deadly motes, murky acid waters
with gruesome monsters lurking in its depths

time has passed, we are still worlds apart
but somehow we are both content on living
in our own little corner of this lonely universe
