I'm sorry

by Rachel   Aug 5, 2010

Friendship like ours will last,
laughs and talks we've shared;

All while your feelings you try to mask,
as the years pass the more you cared.

Beaten down knowing it's a lie,
what you fantazise in your head;

Every kiss I share with him one more tear you cry,
and every moment away you wish you were dead.

I'll try my best,
to always be there for you;

I put my hand on your chest,
and whisper "I'm sorry we'll never be."

    I'm sorry, but I have to be honest, and honestly, I didn't particularly like this poem. It felt forced - the words, the stanzas. It felt like you were trying so hard to get the rhymes, that the lines stubbled and couldn't flow. Each word should be important. As poets, words are our weapons, and we must arm ourselves with the best we can.

    Sorry if this seems harsh, but I'm genuinly trying to be honest and give constructive criticism.
