Quiet defendant

by tainted melody   Aug 6, 2010

You thought I was to weak to live without,
falsely thinking I would survive on fear and doubt.

You believed I was powerless,
that I couldn't live without your caress.

You knew me to be dependent,
but here I stand a defendant.

The court rules you a thief,
showing me false beliefs.

All the alimony I want,
is that my time you will not haunt.

The jury reads your empty story,
the one you tell for your own glory.

But I have a weapon you cannot see,
the one who helped me know to leave.

I read his letter every day,
like a loving father he directs me the right way.

He points to the light at the end of the road,
a time when my heart will no longer feel cold.
All you will be to me then, is a story of old.
I am wearing my silent armor,
Jehovah my stronghold.
