This Is Not Goodbye

by Daniel Mulvany   Aug 8, 2010

How precious it must be to live,
In the presence of all that is you,
When on a day like today I can spend hours,
Awakened by your smile,
Lost in your eyes;
A day that too quickly has drawn to a close,
Before a morning of final goodbyes.
Then like a winged angel you will soar,
To a place so far away,
That all our lives may share as common,
Is the cycle of a day.
So I leave you with this:
When the sun yields to the heavens,
When the black knit back-lit curtain is drawn across the sky,
You will find me,
Waiting for you.
There, where my days will end,
I will think of you beneath those same stars,
And in remembering all the places I have been,
I'll know that none of them compare,
To being where you are.

This is absolutely terrific, and has won a spot in my heart :)
Great job, I feel like there's this hidden message behind it and it's just painted so beautifully.

    Ohhhhhhhhhhh my goodness:)

This is so touching, so very beautiful. What a lucky girl this Lauren is, to have a guy writing something like this for her..and how deeply you must love this girl to write her something this heart warming.
I am going to add this poem to my favorites, it is a truly magnificent poem, wish I had a vote left for it.

When the black knit back-lit curtain is drawn across the sky,
    You will find me,
    Waiting for you.

Its funny how reading ones work can tell me what kind of a person they are. This was an absolute beautiful contribute to probably an amazing girl..If a guy gave me a poem like that it'd melt my heart! I recommend giving this to her!

Extremely well written! I usually dont like non-rhyming poetry but I loved this!
