Fiddle Dee Hum

by Mimed Lovette   Aug 12, 2010

Fairy tales exist - once upon a time -
in Neverland where pirates rule
and troubled mutinies drink a pint.
O, god forbid those wretched fools.

Dreams earn a living, snacking on
our memories right down the lounge.
That was how Sleeping Beauty sought reprieve
to be awaken by a kissing scrounge.

Is Rapunzel's braid sufficiently long
for us to reach heaven's purity floor?
Maybe redhead Ariel's lovely song
could make dozens of young yearning hearts soar.

Enchantment fulfills outrageous desires
- on one condition - till midnight's door
before Cinderella has to return
to her furnace's cobwebbed decore.

Poor Alice is delusional,
sees purple grins wherever she goes
while Pinocchio sets off in search
for his dad in the gaping mouth of a whale.

Humpty Dumpty scattered his yolk;
what a mess, a yellow puddle of death.
Didn't dare tell his pretty old folks
and that's how stories come to an end.

*I was feeling whimsical hence this poem. Read it at your own discretion.*
