Obligations

by Becca   Aug 13, 2010

You are not obligated to do anything in life.
The truth is, you are never forced to do ANYTHING,
there is ALWAYS another choice. Good or bad, we like it or not, its there.
You are not forced to say "i love you" back or "i missed you too" when you don't mean it.
Don't think your doing someone any "favors", We dont need your hand outs.
You dont have to go to someones party, or do things simply cause
" i feel bad if i dont ".
We don't need your pity, no one ever asked for it.
We probably don't even need you.
We don't want people who feel forced to do things.
We shouldn't have to ask.
We want those who do it on their own, because they want to,
because they enjoy you're company, mind, voice, character, thoughts and opinions.
Because they enjoy You.
Its time you start thinking on your own, imitation is suicide.
Where'd the real you go? We'd like them back.
Like I said before, The Truth is, You, the person reading this,
is NEVER forced to do ANYTHING, anything at ALL.
There is Always another choice.
Whether we see it, want to, or not, its never left.
You have no excuse.

This poem could be a 5/5 in my book.
It speaks a truth that most people seem to forget.
Sometimes in life we think that there's an invisible gun held against our head just waiting for us to set it off. Even if someone is "forcing you" they are not.
I'm not going to rate it though. I really think that you can re-write this or tweek it in order to make it even more powerful. I know that this piece can rock others worlds. Best of luck to you, and thanks for the read.
