Old Oak(Double Tanka)

by Jad   Aug 25, 2010

Withered and dying,
Lost in a forest of death
Stands an old oak tree.
Scarred from the passing time here,
Awaiting for a deluge.

Months now turn to years,
As the great tree starts falling.
Having lost all hope,
The end transcends on the tree
Casting shadows to the ground.

Truly a moving write Jad, how often we allow past relationships, friends and family to turn into old oak trees. Wonderful symbolism and meaning. You have reminded me of a poem I wrote a few years back. I think I'll dig it up and post it. Thanks again for sharing ...
