An Error In Judgement

I made a mistake
The worst kind there can be
I told her I loved her
When she didn't love me

I misread her kindness
For something more than just that
But she let me down gently
As we continued to chat

Once again it came through
Her caring and charm
She was worried she hurt me
But she did not do harm

I know now that she loves me
But not in that way
Perhaps with another
I'll find it some day
