Sunshine

by Michael D Nalley   Aug 29, 2010

Much too beautiful to criticize
forgive me while I fantasize
On the cedars of Lebanon
her name is softly engraved
in my mind her light is saved
In her own right she is a star
she seems so close, yet so far
Beauty is so near to divinity
mysterious as a trinity
Timeless as a spring season
A faith above any reason
To a writer she is a better half
her humility makes her laugh
Willingly a painter paints
must needs the proud praise the saints
An angel may fly with a broken wing
Speaking to poets through birds that sing
How does one shine with an empty cup
When there is so much love to fill us up?
The slower one now will be faster
we both must borrow from the master

Despite the heavily religious connotations i do like it very much. The rhymes are apt, the flow is good, and its comparably happier than a lot of the other poems on this sight. It also has some beautiful imagery, the scene of the angel flying with the broken wing ans singing through the birds was particularly lucid for me. well done, 5/5
