I wrote this in June of this year and just found it again while looking through a journal of mine.

Counting down days
till my final farewells,
this is ripping me up inside,
those last few steps to walk away
really are the hardest to take.
This goodbye isn't forever,
just a temporary absence
but will you remember me?
Will I still be important
if I'm no longer right beside you?
Terrified to take the final steps
when I don't know what is waiting,
will there be something to catch me
when I take this step of faith
or will I simply fall?
