In The Beginning

by Ross H Bruce   Sep 2, 2010

In the beginning the universe stood still,
there was deafening silence no lights to fill.
atoms in first order degree of difficulties nil;
eons of freak births, deaths and unknown thrill.
then, atoms grew bigger into pebbles of sand;
they expanded slowly, then chaos started the bang.
the hues turned gray, to crimson then deep blue;
alas! the meteors, the planets and stars came into view.
shooting stars and wobbly suns exploded then died:
pulsars, quasars, nebulae and black holes were abound.
by freak of explosions, the Milky Way was formed;
nurtured by the celestial sun and the stellar moons.
early planets orbited the budding and flickering sun:
mercury, venus, the earth and mars were some,
jupiter, saturn, uranus, neptune and pluto followed,
others are hidden or vanished from the galaxial wallow.
