Under The Weather

by Melissa   Sep 3, 2010

Watch out, lost pet
there's a storm closing in!

A gray cloud
has been following me-
it drivels and huffs,
like a tyrant
until every leaf starts to tremble,
and then he watches them bleed,
like icicles on a warm tree-
always blustering about something

but don't fret, dear
ink has a tendency
to umbrella any weather,
heal, little fella
my shadow will shelter you
from this tyranny

I try to ignore you
as your eyes cast their wicked stare,
and study the cracks
in the sidewalk
that leads to nowhere, somewhere,
home-

where it's safe to wrestle
with my pen,
but I can feel you
looking in on me

Mm, this is quite an interesting write. I read it twice. Good imagery - much different than anything I've read lately, which is nice. Fresh. However, I'm a bit confused as to what the poem is about! I'm not much of a poet's poet so it's hard for me to read into abstractions.

    Lovely anyway. 5/5
