What I Am Is Brave

by Peace And Dinos   Sep 3, 2010

I'm not funny,
I hate the way they laugh,
It makes me feel so worthless,
And its all on their behalf.

Just because I'm different,
And I stick out from the crowd,
Doesn't mean you should make fun,
You shouldn't be so proud.

As I sit here, dreaming,
Letting all their words get to my head,
I have an epiphany, redeeming,
All the thoughts unsaid.

I can be different and cool,
True to myself to the tenth,
If thats what being different is,
Then you could call it beautiful.

So laugh all you want Society,
And Ill still beat to my own drum,
The only thing I ask you to remember is;

"I'm not funny,
What I am is Brave."

I loved how you started off. The rhyme scheme was clearly visible, and the meaning was profound.
Halfway through your poem you stopped rhyming, this confused me. You no longer had the same rhyme or flow. I don't know if you did it to give the voice of rebellion in your poem, but I found myself getting lost anyway.
I love the line "true to myself to the tenth" it is clever and refreshing.
I thank you for the read and wish you luck.
