Disoriented

by Beautiful Chaos   Sep 3, 2010

Lost selves floating in the distance
Who you were, but now, cannot be
Ever evolving beyond what you knew
Disappearing inside what's now known

You wonder about the caterpillar
What pain comes inside the cocoon
Before the butterfly is born?
Or would it even be recognized as pain?

One third of the way through your life
Adolescence comes knocking
You awake 5 months later
Wondering where you went

Youth revisited, such reckless abandon
It felt good at first
Like any drug
That has stolen your soul

Like the phoenix, you have been burning
Time to return to ash
Be reborn of all that brought you down
Looking onward, reflecting inward
