Face Value

Face Value

Everyone seems so proud
Of their wet green lawn
It helps them forget
That they are a pawn

So small in the world
They don't even matter
Look at their faces
They are getting sadder

Look at the way
They get home from work
Unhappy and tired
An unwanted quirk

Waiting for the bus
To take them to school
Pretending that they
Are popular and cool
While all the time
Playing the fool

From my window
The world is more honest
Look at your face
It is written on it
The value of a smile
Taken for granted

~~Written for contest. details are set to write a poem about what we see outside our window.~~~

I just love the title, I love the truth your poem revealed.
At certain points some words sounded forced but maybe by coincidence, like happens with me.

I found this amazingly meaningful, and I truly can relate to it.
