Moon be my Guide

by Katie Angeleri   Sep 4, 2010

You run through the woods
Feeling the earth underneath your muddy paws
As you follow the moon's light
That guides your way through the night

Your breath increases and shortens
As you race closer to the moon
The howl arising in your throat
But it is not time yet

Mossy trees and sparkling ponds blur in your sight
For nothing is stopping your journey to the moon
It is your midnight desire
Your addictive drug

You leave the huddled trees
And end up in a beautiful meadow
The moon shines down on your grey coat
Your eyes glance up to the pale sphere

You sit down memorized by its stunning beauty
its glistening rays of light flows power into you
You raise your muzzle straight towards the moon
Howling your heart out to the ghosts of the night
