What Happened?

I stare at the figure in front of me
Looks like a girl who is uncomfortable
Unsure of herself
The bags under her eyes show signs of late night thinking
Thinking of what to do with her life
Wondering who she wants to be
She is full of insecurities
Having too high of standards
Trying to be equal to a Goddess

The girl's hazel eyes shine with compassion and emotion
Full of love and kindness
Through her eyes I can see into her soul
A soul that has been beaten and bruised
With betrayal and heartbreak
a past she tries to hide away
But every day it sneak up on her
Leaving her helpless and vulnerable

Her dark brown hair covers her face
A great curtain she can hide behind
Hidden in her hair are her head phones
Blasting words into her ears
She drowns in the music
Washing away her stress and problems
She leans forward
A small hand reaching out towards me
A Claddagh ring on her right finger
The purple stone shining in the light
The ring that symbolizes her love for her boyfriend

I can feel her heart beat a heart diverse with traits
Kindness, humor, daring, shyness, loving, craziness
Traits that make her life complete
Giving her everlasting friends, that fills her with happiness, love and hope
She gives none to herself though
Devotes herself to others first
She has thoughts of herself as a selfish person
Who doesn't deserve anything good
Complements she receives feels like lies

I keep staring at this sweet sorrow girl
And look down quickly
Because in front of me is a mirror
Reflecting the girl who is ME!
