The Monster of Inebriation

by Alex D   Sep 5, 2010

In all my years, I've never seen
A sinking ship as bad as me
so take another drink and you will see
what kind of monster you can be

I know we all struggle and I know we all slip up
Some of us cope while some shout bottom's up
I wish I could inspire a change, or spark a fire
to burn the habits of acceptance you've acquired
I know you're slipping, you seem to be losing your grip
but there's a time, a place, a limit for the guilt
How long can you tread the dotted line
When will you take responsibility and realign your spine
Well if there's an answer and if there's a reason
I hope you can say you're proud of who you've become
With a life time of loss in a trail of lost footprints
I hope when tomorrow comes, we will remember this

In all my years, I've never seen
A sinking ship as bad as me
So I'll take another look in the mirror and see
that all along the monster was in me

Maybe this is for a frnd..but due to he darkness and sadness of the poem
I think u shouldnt put it under this category /
maybe sad ? or dark ?

now the poem..oh man was really good, tho i felt like it was a free verse and a rhyming one a the same time...but i wont comment over that.

the way u opened it was just amazing and sad..and ilove how u repeated the 1st stanza and changed the last two lines..

more over wat i liked as well was

I know we all struggle and I know we all slip up
Some of us cope while some shout bottom's up
