Heartache is Immortality

by Galen   Sep 7, 2010

Fatality, Futility, to Immortality,
The course of things has changed,
And it has left me quite deranged,
So lay me down to watch me sleep,
But keep me near at 6 feet deep,
Although part immortal still lives on,
All the rest has slowly gone,
Pray repentance may soon come,
For if not, then be left with none,
Alone and cold you fight for breath,
And hold the temptation of quick death,
Will some mourn for what was me,
Or celebrate what comes to be,
They come with phrases, come with verse,
But diverse intentions are all for worse,
Silent knives find their mark,
And rip at me through the dark,
They try to find and take the light,
But all the light faded to night,
Precious little will be left,
And all of that will succumb to theft,
What will then be left of me,
What will be left for me to see,
Recollection of my past,
May be enough to make me last,
But malice haunts within,
And drags me slowly down to sin,
My knees are weak,
And I can not speak,
The words that were needed,
Were never completed,
The fire that was lighted,
Will never be ignited,
So welcome the cold,
And face death so bold,
Never look behind,
There is nothing to find,
Keep your memory in your heart,
It will lead you through the dark,
Till you finally realize,
You have met cold demise,
Finally, courageously, mortally

This was intense and very complex. Alot of emotion flowed through each word. I normally stay away from long poems but I have to say this was very well done and it held my interest from the first line.
    Take care
