There's a Flood Warning Tonight

by Stephanie   Sep 9, 2010

Shut up about my grammer. thanks. (:

---------

all these promises that our lips dared to make,
have they finally came crashing with the rain?
a single drop here and a double drop there.
there's a slow 'drip, drip' thrumming in my ear.
your fingertips run themselves over my skin,
leaving sensations that no words can ever cover.
your fingertips: i can feel them droop with regret.
so heavy. like a heavy weight upon my back,
baby, you've never been a burden before tonight.

i've fallen down from the universe we created,
a secret haven of some sorts, some might say.
i called it paradise, others just call it insanity.
whatever it was, it was my delectable universe,
and my cravings never seemed to dissipate.

drip, drip.
drip, drip, drip.

momma says that all broken hearts shall be healed,
at least in due time, but Lord, that's too long for me.
my soft, baby footsteps pound against the concrete,
and they shadow the violent screams i cried out tonight.
and this little, blue haze in my mind tells me to shush,
while the demons on my heart tell me to scream louder.
yet, all i can hear is drip, drip, drip.
drip.

a promise here, a promise there.
drip one, drip two.
it doesn't stop, it won't stop.
drip, drip, drip, drip, drip.

somebody call it in:
there's a flood warning tonight.
