Come Play with Me

by Ronald Edwards   Sep 11, 2010

There never is a question Why
to fights my obligation.
As I reload and burst my gun
sending them to damnation.

A duty to defend country,
your freedom bought with my blood.
It mixes well with sand and sweat
no uses for this mud.

I invite each one of you
to try and tag along.
Spend some time as bullets fly
singing a marching song.

Would you still think they way you do
a week spent in my boots ?
While sitting home in luxury,
TV your mind pollutes.

So play your games, making up rules,
Change buttons worn on your hem.
But when enemy is knocking hard
youll beg from me to kill em.

Soldiers are like behind the scene people..we
only see the result but not the sacrificies made by those responsible..a touching write.

A very moving poem. I liked the concept behind this poem and it is unfortunately true that there are many who don't know of the sacrifice soldiers make for us as we sit at home just watching tv as you have said. A poem filled with many different emotions which can come forth from this piece. Good job and keep writing.
