Taking Chances

by White Orchid   Sep 13, 2010

I'd rather lose
Than take no risk
For one cannot live
Without taking chances

Let the butterflies escape
Out of the jar in my stomach
Conquer this fear with no regrets
Only to let you occupy my heart

Take advantage of speech
If only to tell you how I feel
It is a risk that's worth taking
It is history we are making

I know that if I let loose
My path would lead to you
You would forever take my hand
And into eternity we would go

    This.

This poem is a culmination of a slow shift in thinking I've seen through all your poems so far. The shift from passive fearfulness to a determined boldness. As I've mentioned, that boldness and determination is key for a relationship, and although it may not turn out as planned, without it all that remains are doubts and fears, and that will never get anyone anywhere. Better to take a chance to HAVE a chance at a successful relationship, than to take no chance and have NO chance. Very, very good write, possibly my favorite of all of them simply because of the positive change I see in this one. <3

This is sweet and innocent and the emotion you so vividly portray, the fear of giving into love, is indeed a scary one..it takes so much courage to go for the one you love with all your heart.

The only remark I have is that you used the word "for" twice and shortly after one another, other than that: sweet innocence:)

    Well done,
