Secrets have power

by unique   Sep 14, 2010

Everyone has secrets,
Things hidden from the world
Powerful and deep
Impacting your life unknowingly

Whether suppressing rage
Or hiding fear
Trying to mend a heart
Once broken into pieces

Pulling tenderly on heartstrings
Each secret, it's own story
Giving you courage
Or dropping you to your knees

Weeping in secret
Celebrating in silence
Not daring to share it all
For risk of disappointment

Opinion's changing
Acceptance no longer secure
Afraid of how things would change
If secrets broke through the empty air

Secrets spoken out loud
Having power beyond belief
Leaving you vulnerable
To the world outside

Wow!! I love everything about this poem! The title caught my eye and the poem itself was even better than what I imagined it would be. I agree with this poem completely and really enjoyed it! It really touched me... Great job!

This poem has well worded thoughts, yet lacks the wording to make it an excellent poem, instead of just good. It is worth a 5/5, but I want to challenge you to choose words that are more poetic.

Your words definitely speak wisdom. I really loved your title & concept of the poem. The title was very intriguing because it's a contradiction, a paradox and a very interesting one at that. It's so true, secrets do indeed have power, and are spoken loud, rather than kept quiet like their supposed to be. I really adored reading this, it was something fresh, different and makes so much sense.. Well done
