Clemency

by David Marshall   Sep 15, 2010

I sit here alone; paralyzed; staring at this clock.
When will the one in robes come with an end; a swing from the scythe.
I sit here alone; weak; unable to move, unable to walk.
swing your mercy; save my life.

I ache to walk again.
to breathe again.
to feel again.
to love again.
to take the beauty of life and smile.

my eyes hurt; they see, but no longer understand.
my heart bleeds; it beats, but has no flow.
I'm falling with nowhere to land,
running with no where to go.

I am trapped with a reflection of my jaded life,
I'm a pariah; I'm dead inside; who could ever love me.
the truth glares in my face,
set me free.

I sit here afraid; anxious; ready for my fate.
when will the one in robes come with an end; a swing from the scythe.
i sit here afraid; help me; bring me to that pearl gate.
Swing your mercy; save my life.

I yearn to see again.
to understand again.
to never be alone.
to be loved again.
to take the beauty of the afterlife and smile.

God; swing your mercy; swing your scythe;
God set me free; God save my life.

Another very amazing write. I really like your writing style.

"my eyes hurt; they see, but no longer understand.
my heart bleeds; it beats, but has no flow."
    - i think these two lines were pretty damn amazing.

I like your repetition of god in the final stanza, i think it was a very powerful ending. KUDOS
