Coz You Wanted a Poem

During school
they were so close
very best friends
never alone

School does not last forever
and uni came so fast
both so very different
they were now so far apart

talking everyday
about assignments and boys
drunken nights and broken hearts
and the rising phone bills

missing the best hugs
and the comfort of her friend
a long drive
is where all this would end

she hopped into her car
singing their favourite song
she turned the music up
this song did not last too long

a car smashed into the drivers side
she did not make it home
she closed her eyes with a soft goodbye
and her friend is left alone

school does not last forever
but how i wish it had
for i would still have a best friend
and this story would have no end
