Six

by StarryBlackNight   Sep 20, 2010

My heart beats with bent up emotion.
The rain beats down on my exposed face.
My legs feel like lead, I want to collapse.
My hands reach for you, as you get lowered.
My eyes spill over with bitter tears.
My mouth opens in a silent scream for mercy.
My lungs won't fill with air.
I take another breath, but nothing happens.
My mind goes blank as you're lowered out of my view.
I watch through my tears as everyone leaves.
It's only me and you.
You're six feet under me, but it feels like six million.
I want to see your smiling face one more time.
But six feet of earth separate us.
And six feet of soil, and stone will always separate us.

Stunning imagery. Sad but beautiful. 5/5. Well done. :)
