The Mask

by Jackie Martinez   Sep 24, 2010

A stone mask,
Attached to her face,
Keeps away the light.

A stone mask,
Not shown to you,
Or to anyone else.

A stone mask,
A shield from them,
Protection from you.

A stone mask,
Here she sees herself,
Yet here no light exists.

A stone mask,
Emotions and love,
Lost to the hard of stone.

A stone mask,
Undefeated,
Will not be bested.

All she is,
A stone mask.
