So you gave the down and out a dollar

by John Long   Sep 26, 2010

So you gave the down and out a dollar,
Out of guilt, embarassment, sympathy?
Now, drinking your four dollar latte you
Have time to reflect on his plight.
Isn't it terrible, isn't it shocking?
How can this be?

So what will you do about it?
Write a poem or say a prayer,
What did that ever achieve?

Sometimes words can open our eyes to things, diminish the distance between the two sides..as can songs, pictures, all works of art and plain news coverage also. As long as things stay hidden, or swept under the rug nothing will change at all..that is for sure.

So your poem does make a difference;)

    Well done,

Have a happy New Year as well, John, and thanks for stepping by on my page:) x
