Her Day of Recognition

by TGR   Sep 30, 2010

He slept on ice the size of life
Slippery down to the last inch
The cold beat him senseless
He could only hope his bed would melt
With every freezing tear, he found himself lying underneath the frowns
Of all the mistakes of his past

She saw him but she could not see
All the tears beneath his skin
With the smile of a thousand hearts
And a million loving words
She tried to hold him

But bruises and scars are hard to break through
And lights have a glare that scare away the best
They were just naive
In their little world of ecstasy

Paper houses won't hold up against the water
Of a hard drenching rain
Glass crystals will shatter
When smashed against themselves
And fragile hearts will die
When fighting the world

He was just a broken boy
With dreams of rusting gold
And she was a nobody star
That rose up above them all

The day of recognition has passed
She has drunk away all her new found grief
While he's buried under six feet

Paper houses won't hold up against the water
Of a hard drenching rain
Glass crystals will shatter
When smashed against themselves
And fragile hearts will die
When fighting the world

If only she could see
Her old smile that shone in their life
If only she could have
Everything she lost

But he was just a broken boy
Sleeping on his bed of ice made by everyone else
And she could not see
The tears beneath his seams
And his fragile heart couldn't win
So came her day of recognition
