Nightmares Or Dreams?

by BlueEyedMystery   Oct 2, 2010

Dreams or nightmares?
They're both the same.
Both squeeze the life,
Through her little blue veins.
Nightmares or dreams?
Monsters live in both,
Ready to chew and devour,
Hands ready to choke.
Stars twinkle in the sky,
Mocking her sleepless night.
They point, laugh, and smile,
At the little girl's cries.
She holds herself close,
She's all she's got left.
She swallows hard,
And lets go of her legs.
She won't be this way,
She'll be alright.
She doesn't need anyone,
She's got herself tonight.

    She's all she's got left.
    She's got herself tonight.

*In both of these lines I'd change "got" to "has". I really liked the way this poem flowed. It was like a riddle almost. Very well written and easy to understand. Sad though :/ Nice work deary. -Nik*
