In the Day

by Ronald Edwards   Oct 2, 2010

Ive lost what I had
wanting more than I need.
Today is the measure
compromise is my mead.

Ive sat pondering often
of places to wander.
Drinking with a passion
opportunities did squander.

Then memories flood in
past discretions upon me.
The door to my past opens
my instincts say flee.

But really is there
any place I can run
to escape paying the piper
of what I thought was fun?

It was not my way, to keep in the day,
though now I have been given a vision.

To look where I am, not where I can go.
here and now is my daily decision.

A well done poem that truly makes one think a lot as he/she reads the poem and considers the lines. You seem to be able to write this easily and have a knack for writing them. Good job and keep writing.

Ron, I think you must have been peeking into my mind with this and the grandma poems. It struck a cord with me. Well done.
