Wall of Honor

by Jad   Oct 3, 2010

Memories etched in granite,
evoking thoughts
of patriotism
from passing generations,
forevermore into the future.

Emotions merge with new sadness,
crying in pain
sustaining feelings
of old treasured memories
breathing life once again but anew.

Regret, hatred, sorrow, and pain
live on in stone;
shown by veterans,
displaying their last honor
in reverence for their passing brothers.

And so on this wall of honor,
my heart pounds fast
thinking of lives lost
paying blood for our freedom
keeping our home soil free to all.

*Dedication to the Vietnam Memorial and also all the brave men and woman who gave their lives for the freedoms of not only America but all those around us as well. *

This was just like the other poem I read, rather similar, yet still holds a potent message. I remember seeing this memorial myself, definitely a very gorgeous one. When you see it, it definitely makes you appreciate all of those who have made a difference by fighting for our country. They should always be honored, well done. You did a nice job, I can picture it clearly.

This is a truley strong and moving piece of work, there is so much power in every line, such a great reflection of pride and strength, and loss and turmoil. A great, moving poem.

    Well done.

Austin, another poem written with the maturity of a wise old man. Your trip was worth it since it produced this gem. Well done.
