Together

This poem is inspired by and dedicated to my shrimplette. She's taught me more about life and myself than I could ever imagine and this one is for her to know she's not alone.

I've spent a lot of time searching
Searching through the light and dark
Searching for the answers I seek
It seemed the more I searched
The less I would find out
And then you came into my life
You were the best thing in my life
I found all the answers in you
I know I stumbled and tripped
I floated in and out of the darkness
And sometimes I even failed you
But just when I thought I was done
That I could never make you proud
When thoughts of suicide controlled me
I began to see the light again
I picked myself up off the ground
I dusted myself off
Walking over to where you lay
I extended my hand for you to take
Cause lets leave the darkness together
I'll escort you and you escort me
Back to the light that warmed our souls
