Since

by Richard S   Oct 8, 2010

Where were you in 53?
What was there to see?
What has happen since that year?
Events that set you free?

Climbing trees to see the world,
From a new perspective.
Exploring streets of Victoria,
Was that the prime directive?

Moving to Toronto,
Staying above the fray.
Fighting the injustices,
You came across each day.

Going off to London,
To see where that would lead.
Getting hitched and coming home,
A plot you did not read.

Along would come the children.
It became a way of life,
That needs of situations,
Might have caused some strife.

Events that turned your world around,
Gave cause to reassess.
And time alone would reaffirm,
Regrets to be addressed.

Children grown to adulthood,
Mom's special in their eyes.
She showed them how to live a life.
Authentic. Without lies.

It's been some time since 53.
The world has changed a lot.
But you keep climbing up the trees,
To see what you can spot.

Not effected by the cynical,
And not by passing time.
Your heart is still adventurous,
Self importance not a crime.

You're still the girl on city streets,
Just after 53.
You're still the girl who can't resist,
The climbing of a tree.
